STORIES OF RESILIENCE:

URI, A TEEN FROM SDEROT

In the wake of October 7th and the ongoing conflict, The Jewish Agency for Israel established the Campers2Gether program to help Israeli youth cope with trauma and Diaspora teens feel more connected to Israel. This experience helps strengthen Jewish identity and a shared peoplehood among Israeli and global Jewish youth.

“I wanted to attend the Campers2Gether program because I speak English very well and I like speaking to everyone, regardless of their language. This program made me appreciate my Judaism much more, especially seeing how proud the campers in Canada are of being Jewish. Did the program change my opinion about my identity as a Jew or as an Israeli? Yes, of course it did. Speaking in English with people who are Jewish like me, but who live abroad, and seeing that they even speak a little Hebrew, really changed my mind about them and what we had in common. After the program, I felt much prouder of being Jewish.” — Uri
